Debbie McDonald, one of the most successful American dressage riders today, is the 2001 and 2002 National Dressage Champion and is a member of the 2002 U.S. silver medalist World Equestrian Games team, and 2004 bronze medalist Olympic Games team. Together with the famous Hanoverian mare, Brentina, they were 2003 World Cup Champions in Goteborg, Sweden. Debbie has captured team and individual gold medals in the Pan American Games, a team silver medal in the North American Dressage Championship and first place in the State Line Tack / USET Intermediare Championships, the World Cup League Finals, and the FEI Volvo World Cup Qualifier. She has been named AHSA (now USEF) Equestrian of the Year and US Olympic Committee Horsewoman of the Year. Debbie has trained and competed in Europe with help from coach, Klaus Balkenhol, many top-level horses including Brentina, Beaurivage, and Word Perfect. A native Californian, Debbie and her husband, Bob, run River Grove Farm for Peggy Thomas in Sun Valley, Idaho.
